One day I'd like to open my eyes to understanding And see a world of equals where love is all-commanding I'd like to feel a freedom Admire the perfect view I hope for this but until then I'll live my life for you Some day I'd like to listen to peaceful conversation And hear my children's voices go sharing with the nation I'd like to see them living In comfort like you knew I hope for this but until then I'll spend my life indebted to you Indebted to you Indebted to you Indebted to you One day I'd like to thank you for working for the people Whose futures are dependent on words beyond the steeple Your actions are decisive So promise you'll be true We hope for this but until then We'll spend our lives indebted to you Indebted to you Indebted to you Indebted to you We hope for this but until then We'll spend our lives indebted to you Indebted to you Indebted to you Indebted to you

Glitches 03:12
You're shiny but rough round the edges You try but you can't keep your pledges But everyone knows Yes everyone knows You're programmed to switch off if I talk Emotions in check like a cyborg You already know Yes you already know You're wired completely the opposite way As I move closer you're further away I try but there's nothing that I can do Baby, I'm just like you 'Cause I've got glitches too You try to recharge when you're broken You want to deny what was spoken You try to let go You try to let go You'd rather erase the whole memory Delete the hard drive to save energy Letting it go You're letting it go You're wired completely the opposite way As I move closer you're further away I try but there's nothing that I can do Baby, I'm just like you 'Cause I've got glitches too
3.
Lately I've been thinking Far too much about you Lately I've been drinking Far too much to doubt you 'Cause you are the only one I want to be the one for you But you are the only one Who can tear me up like you do I've been talking to myself again In the middle of the night Going crazy by myself again You make me lose my mind Been talking to myself Baby, can you save me? Tell me that you're mine Did the glance you gave me Tell me that we're doing fine? I've been talking to myself again In the middle of the night Going crazy by myself again You make me lose my mind Been talking to myself
4.
You set the target so high But there's no chance you'll touch the blue sky So why don't you make it easy on yourself? You search for happiness But only when you've made your list And when it's here you're looking somewhere else And when I'm here you're looking at someone else You said, "I'll see you, see you at the end of the rainbow" You said, "I'll see you, see you at the end of the rainbow" You said, "I'll see you, see you at the end of the rainbow" You said, "I'll see you, see you at the end of the rainbow" You always want the next step Before you've even reached the best bit So tell me how can I keep you satisfied? It's like the never-ending Search for something while it's trending So how long will it be before you decide To change your heart and swim against the tide? You said, "I'll see you, see you at the end of the rainbow" You said, "I'll see you, see you at the end of the rainbow" You said, "I'll see you, see you at the end of the rainbow" You said, "I'll see you, see you at the end of the rainbow"

Compete 03:05
Does it make you feel so much better about yourself If you're looking at me and I'm doing it wrong? Does it make you feel so much better about yourself If you're moving ahead while I take so long? You wanna play You keep score but I I don't wanna compete anymore You wanna play You keep score but I I don't wanna compete anymore Does it make you feel so much more secure in yourself Knowing what you have is so much better than mine? Does it make you feel so much more sure of yourself Knowing what you got is worth an eight or a nine? You wanna play You keep score but I I don't wanna compete anymore You wanna play You keep score but I I don't wanna compete anymore But you keep holding on You wanna play You keep score but I I don't wanna compete anymore You wanna play You keep score but I I don't wanna compete anymore

Posing for the pictures Waiting for the press Turning for the cameras Walking in her dress Moving down the catwalk Flicking back her hair Lighting up a cigarette Meeting every stare She's a Polaroid dream Living in a magazine She's a Polaroid dream Leaving in a limousine Drawing on her lipstick Covering the scars Putting on an accent Mixing with the stars Drinking in the bedroom Faking every smile The pressure's getting to her The girl behind the style She's a Polaroid dream Living in a magazine She's a Polaroid dream Leaving in a limousine
7.
"Slow down Can you wait for me?" Is all I've ever asked of you "Give me some more time to be Sure I'm still in love with you" But that's the problem: If I need to check before I throw myself into you So now, after all, here I go and then Trying your patience again Saying, "can we wait?" The clock on the wall still reminds me I'm trying your patience again But it's too late for that Shadows of doubt in my mind You cast them with your violent words Feelings I just can't erase Moments tainted by the curse And that's the issue: If I can't commit, then where does that leave us? So now, after all, here I go and then Trying your patience again Saying, "can we wait?" The clock on the wall still reminds me I'm trying your patience again But it's too late for that

Filter 03:35
Is there a moment when we say too much? Is there a second too precious to touch? Is there a time when we lock the door? Is there a filter anymore? How many pictures before lines are crossed? Is there a danger of privacy lost? And what of the wounded, upon whom salt is poured? Is there a filter anymore? Was there a moment when we became proud To speak minds so rashly, so loud? Is there a reason why we need to share Our insecure feelings to those who don't care? What happened to wisdom, avoiding the war? Is there a filter anymore?

Joe Moore is incredible. Sometimes we wonder how time will treat the work of such a multifaceted, open-minded author. He offers us music as a whole, as an absolute. The arrangements, the melodies, these are the ends to which everything else is the means. Styles don’t matter, labels don’t matter. There are just songs. His new Mini-LP, “Filter”, released under the name of THE PERFECT KISS, the moniker he reserves for his most electronic compositions, makes this clear. Because just as he has played different styles of pop, the sixties sound and chamber music with his main project, THE YEARNING, with THE PERFECT KISS his musical language takes a major turn. Where “Disconnect”, THE PERFECT KISS’ debut Mini-LP, was a marvelous electro-pop treatise, “Filter” dives head first into italo disco, without letting go of the synth-pop. And again, it’s a triumph.

The eight songs on this 500-copy-numbered-limited-edition, magenta-colored, 10” vinyl are marvelous. While we listen to undeniable hits like “Indebted To You”, “Glitches” and “At The End Of The Rainbow”, we are reminded of FUTURE BIBLE HEROES and CHVRCHES, of ELECTRIC YOUTH and SAINT ETIENNE, of A-HA and YAZOO. With the beauty of “Talking To Myself”, “Compete” and “Trying Your Patience” we are taken from THE POSTAL SERVICE to OMD, from VISAGE to Ryan Paris. When we hear the sonic deformation of “Polaroid Dream” and the solid “Filter”, we think of Amanda Lear and THE HUMAN LEAGUE, of Giorgio Moroder and TELEX, of GAZEBO and YELLOW MAGIC ORCHESTRA.

But the most important thing is that, in the end, we have a collection of absolutely perfect, solid, inimitable, exciting melodies – the kind that won’t let go of us while we move across the city in the wee hours of the morning. This is a perfect piece of work, without one unnecessary second, one unnecessary arrangement, with just the right touch of riskiness, without one single note that is not absolutely amazing. And all of this is also thanks to the essential, delicious voice of Holly Vanags, in all its dreaminess and freedom, perfect for Joe Moore’s songs.
